Health Care and AgingI read different topics on different approaches to create better health care for everyone. It is a very difficult subject to think about due to the pros and cons of each topic. I chose topic 2, which discusses the concept of improving the current health care system we are currently using instead of a drastic change. This choice seems ironic because the drawback would be that it would cost the government more money, putting government into further debt. The public would be able to make the choice of their own doctors. Employers in a pool for competition with other insurance companies on better insurance rate is the idea of this plan. Expanding health care is the answer to making health care coverage available to more people. Reduced costs with optimal health care, I don't think is really possible. Cutting costs greatly, doesn't always give the most quality patient care that one should receive. Managed care is cheap but the choices for the patient are not always in their best interest for receiving the best care. Having one plan for everyone may be cheaper and yes, everyone will have coverage, but my fear is the possibility of waiting months to receive surgery. If I were to recreate a health plan, which is something way over my head, I think expanding healthcare and giving tax credits to the ones of low economical status might work. The government I am rather weiry about and wonder t how they have become in debt. Budgeting should be a priority, and something well thought out and planned so as far as the government going into further debt if we expanded plans, it is the current debt they need to fix, so they won't be in deeper with a new health care plan. This is not related to the topic but now I've got the bug to vent. Government and the way it spends our tax dollars I don't believe we will ever truely know. They need to work on the budgeting and current debt, before molding a health care plan that offers quality patient care if they truely want to make a better health care system for all. Thats what I would do. The thing that frustrates me is if the government is being careless with our tax dollars, we are the ones that suffer and will be expected to shovel them out of debt. I am all for helping with good cause, including increased taxes, but I think America's government spending more than they have isen't the answer guys, especially if they plan on helping Americans live a better life.

Changing Expectations
»A new report finds the main problem in getting the public to deal with our fiscal problems isn't opposition to tax increases or spending cuts -- it's their lack of trust in the government to spend their money wisely. |
